Some Los Cabos outings begin with a dinner reservation. This one begins with a tee time, a comfortable pair of shoes, and the chance to watch a professional golfer solve a problem a few yards away.

The World Wide Technology Championship returns to El Cardonal at Diamante in November, bringing PGA TOUR competition to Cabo San Lucas and giving residents and visitors another reason to gather outdoors. You do not need a low handicap—or even your own set of clubs—to enjoy the occasion.

For longtime golf fans, it is a chance to follow familiar names in person. For everyone else, it can be an introduction to the precision, patience, and surprisingly social rhythm of a tournament day.

Mark the right dates: November 5–8 for tournament play

The full event week runs November 2–8, 2026, while the four rounds of professional competition take place Thursday, November 5, through Sunday, November 8. The venue is El Cardonal at Diamante in Cabo San Lucas.

That distinction matters when arranging a visit. Early-week activities include practice and Pro-Am events; a ticket for a competition round does not automatically provide access to every function. Start with the official schedule and choose the day and experience you want.

A milestone for Mexican golf, with a Los Cabos setting

This is the championship’s 20th edition. The event began in 2007 in the Riviera Maya–Cancún region and moved to Los Cabos in 2023. Its anniversary therefore celebrates the tournament’s history in Mexico, rather than 20 years at Diamante.

That history adds context to the week: an established international competition now has a home in the landscape and hospitality of Baja California Sur. The organizer’s anniversary announcement traces that journey.

What makes El Cardonal worth watching?

Designed by Tiger Woods, El Cardonal combines rolling terrain, wide fairways, natural contours, and views of the Pacific. The official course guide describes a layout where angles and positioning help shape the next shot.

For a spectator, that suggests a rewarding way to watch: look beyond where a drive lands and consider what it leaves the player. Does one side of the fairway offer a clearer approach? Is the golfer using a slope to work the ball toward the green? You do not have to predict the answer to appreciate the decision.

If you are attending with someone new to golf, choose a viewing spot together and watch several groups play the same hole. Seeing different solutions to the same challenge can be more interesting than trying to follow every shot across the course.

Who is expected to play?

In its October 22 announcement, the tournament named defending champion Ben Griffin among the committed players, alongside Tony Finau, Jackson Koivun, Ryan Gerard, and Luke Donald.

Past champions announced as returning include Matt Kuchar, Patton Kizzire, Brendon Todd, Erik van Rooyen, and Austin Eckroat.

These are announced commitments, not a guarantee that every player will start. Check the organizer’s player announcement and current tournament information before planning your day around one golfer. Pairings and tee times will help you decide when and where to watch.

Choose the ticket that fits your day

The organizer lists several ways to attend. Compare the official ticket options before purchasing:

  • General Admission: Access to the course and tournament grounds, with concessions available.
  • The Skybox: Hospitality at the 18th green, with a buffet and open bar listed among its inclusions.
  • Tacos on 17 by La Lupita: A hospitality option between the 17th and 10th greens with a Mexican food-and-drink focus.
  • Clubhouse: Viewing from The Woods restaurant area; the organizer notes that food and beverages are purchased separately.

The current General Admission policy allows children 15 and under to enter free with a ticketed adult, up to two children per ticketed adult.

Confirm eligibility and inclusions for the specific product you select. Use the official ticket portal for live availability, prices, fees, and purchase terms.

Make the arrival as relaxed as the outing

Diamante is a private resort community, so follow the tournament’s designated spectator access and parking arrangements. The organizer’s parking guide directs visitors through the Diamante main gate to general parking.

Read the current instructions instead of assuming your usual restaurant or hotel entrance is the correct tournament route.

Leave room in your plans for traffic, entry screening, and walking to a viewing location. If friends are arriving separately, agree on a meeting point and check the day’s schedule before deciding when to meet.

A few practical preparations can make the day easier:

  • Wear comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen; bring a light layer for the morning.
  • Check bag limits before leaving. The current guide lists clear bags up to 12 × 6 × 12 inches and opaque bags up to 6 × 6 × 6 inches.
  • Keep your phone silent, disable flash, and follow marshals’ instructions around play.
  • Check restrictions before packing food, drinks, chairs, or photography equipment.

The organizer’s Know Before You Go guide is the place to confirm the full rules. Its mobile-device policy permits personal photographs under stated conditions and prohibits live streaming.

The community story extends beyond the leaderboard

The published program includes a Kick-Off Pro-Am benefiting Casa Hogar and an Oasis Short-Am benefiting First Tee of Diamante. It also lists a junior golf clinic on Saturday, November 7, alongside Fan Zone activities during competition days.

These details make the week relevant beyond the players’ scores. For families, they offer reasons to explore the program together. For residents, they are a reminder that major sporting events also connect with local organizations and young people.

Check eligibility, admission, and registration directly; a listed activity is not automatically included with every ticket.

With world-class golf and the Pacific in view, wouldn’t you rather be in cabo?

A tournament is one way to experience the place you might one day call home: spend time outdoors, meet friends, and discover which parts of the local calendar you would want to make your own.

For buyers drawn to a golf-oriented lifestyle, tournament access and everyday playing access are separate questions. When evaluating a home, ask about the specific community’s membership arrangements, fees, and access rules rather than assuming a course view or a nearby event includes golf privileges.
